Following on from the popular first single The Way It Is, which premiered on Triple J’s Roots & All show back in February, Australian singer/songwriter Mick Hart has dropped a second taste of his forthcoming album, Awake.
3am Or Anytime is a gentler offering than its predecessor, this time more of an acoustic roots ballad that charmingly shows off Hart’s silky vocals and sublime guitar work, premiered pre release on Sarah Howells Influential Stir It Up Show on ABC Double J the song is already off to a great start ahead of its release April 5.
A sweet love song, 3am Or Anytime centres around the alluring chorus, “You can steal my blanket anytime, you can drink my last full glass of wine, you can wake me for help at 3am or anytime, you can take my heart because you’re mine.”
ARIA nominated for “Best Blues and Roots” in 2002 for his sophomore album Upside Down In The Full Face of Optimism, Mick Hart occupies a sonic space that’s influenced by Jeff Buckley and Ben Harper, from sparse acoustic songs to wild dirty blues rock and some brilliant lap-slide guitar.
Hart has been touring the world for the past 20 years, playing festivals and concerts all over Australia, the UK and Europe, Japan and the USA. Praised all over the globe, Mick has played support to Bob Dylan, Coldplay, Sting, Van Morrison, Paul Weller, Gomez, The Pretenders, Paul Kelly, The John Butler Trio and many more.
The new album Awake will be available for pre-sale orders on April 2 through MGM. Awake is Mick’s first recording in five years, featuring 16 brand new songs – a brilliant and epic mix of soulful indie folk rock, from beautiful and intimate acoustic to blistering blues.
